So you have a grade change and are now looking all over TPT for the best resources to help you teach? Look no further if you are teaching 5th grade next year! I have rounded up my favorite resources to teach 5th grade. Click here if you are looking for 3rd grade or 6-8 math must have resources.
All of these resources I have used in my own classroom and have loved them! I typically choose to buy bundles from TPT because they save money and time. However, most of the resources linked have individual options you can purchase to try them out.
Side note: I have bought all of the resources I include. If they are marked with an * I sell them in my shop.
5th Grade Reading Picks
- Novel Studies Bundle ($90) This product was my reading curriculum for the year! It has everything you need to teach all the standards through novel studies. She even has daily lesson plans to follow!
- Reading Responses for Fiction & Nonfiction ($10) These came in so handy for giving students choice when it came to their monthly book clubs. I had a bin of copies that students could pick from and complete. They also make a great sub plan option.
- Reading Games ($5) This pack was so handy for test prep. Kiddos can play in pairs after reading a passage. I love that they are print and go!
Favorite 5th Grade Math Resources
- *Math Curriculum ($9) This is a growing bundle from my own shop that I made while teaching. It has everything you need: notes, practice, quiz, exit tickets and tests. I’m uploading a unit a month so it should be done by the end of the year.
- Seasonal Math Pages ($20) These were so nice to have on hand during the year. I loved using them as homework options or leaving for subs.
- *Tic Tac Toe Games ($8) This bundle is a great way to accommodate a variety of different math levels. I used the math facts year round, while the multiplication and division algorithm were used to differentiate during the unit. Kiddos love getting to play math games with a partner. I love that all I had to do was print and go!
Must-Have Writing Products
- Text-Based Responses ($5) I loved using these stations to teach text-based writing responses. Students were so engaged and really learned this challenging skill.
- Digital Writing Lessons ($5) These pretty much became my writing lessons for the year! There’s digital and print options which made it perfect for helping kiddos organize their draft books during the writing process. The daily lesson plans and examples also helped a ton!
- Hashtag Writing ($2) I loved having this as a fast finisher for writing or to give kids a more creative way to make stories. My students begged for these during indoor recess, so you know its good!
Science & Social Studies Top Resources
- Science Stations ($2.50) These are the BEST deal I’ve found on science stations. You get 5 stations that kiddos can complete in about 20 minutes each. There’s a little bit of everything: vocabulary, reading, experiments.
- Social Studies Units ($9) We didn’t have a social studies textbook so this resource came in super handy. All the text and maps are included and you can make the notes into flip books which makes it more engaging for kiddos.
- Social Studies Linkitivity ($7) This was perfect for wrapping up the Revolutionary War unit. The different articles, videos and graphics held my 5th graders’ attention.
