So you have a grade change and are now looking all over TPT for the best resources to help you teach? Look no further if you are teaching 3rd grade next year! I have rounded up my favorite resources to teach 3rd grade. Click here if you are looking for 5th grade or 6-8 math must have resources.
All of these resources I have used in my own classroom and have loved them! I typically choose to buy bundles from TPT because they save money and time. However, most of the resources linked have individual options you can purchase to try them out.
Side note: I have bought all of the resources I include. If they are marked with an * I sell them in my shop.
Top Picks for 3rd Grade Reading
- Digital Graphic Organizers ($6.50) These are so versatile I used them every week! This pack comes with quite a few different graphic organizers that you can assign to your kiddos through Google Classroom. These were perfect for our weekly read-aloud, as well as for leaving for subs.
- Reading Intervention Program ($21) When I taught 3rd grade, I actually used this set for my on-grade level kiddos as a quick homework each week. I love the short passages and variety of questions. If you are looking for an intervention set, she sells these packs at all levels.
- Reading Response Journals ($5.50) To prep my kiddos for state testing, we worked on reading responses all year long. These menus were so helpful for giving students choice in what prompt they would complete each week. These also held them accountable for their independent reading time.
Awesome 3rd Grade Math Resources
- Planograms ($5) These packs are seriously the best for making anchor charts. I loved tracing out the main pieces of the chart and then making the rest with my students. These provide a great starting point if you are teaching 3rd grade math without a curriculum.
- Escape Rooms ($5) I love using Escape Rooms to review at the end of units or right before state testing. These ones are super engaging and kiddos love them. Such a great way to amp up your room, especially when doing something like test prep.
- *Tic Tac Toe Games ($8) This bundle is a great way to accommodate a variety of different math levels. I used the math facts year round, while the addition and subtraction algorithm were used to differentiate during the unit. Kiddos love getting to play math games with a partner. I love that all I had to do was print and go!
Must Haves for 3rd Grade Writing
- Student Led Writing Station ($7.50) This station is so easy to set up and use year round. I love giving my students choice as much as possible and this pack helped so much. Our writing corner was always full of fun ideas to write about!
- Selfie Writing ($10.50) This was honestly one of the most fun things I did with my kiddos! They loved getting to complete these after publishing their writing as an earlier finisher. The holidays aren’t too much, and you can pick and choose what ones students can complete.
- Opinion Writing Pack ($6.50) I’m not the strongest writing teacher so I love packs that have everything I need to teach! This one includes articles, graphic organizers and an engaging prompt for students to write about.
Favorite 3rd Grade Science Resources
- Mystery Science (free/$99) This isn’t a resource on TPT but if you haven’t heard about Mystery Science you are missing out! Easy to follow lessons, step by step experiments, and engaging videos! I signed up for free for a year membership. After that it’s $99.
- Water Cycle Digital Learning ($6.50) While I wasn’t remote learning when I taught 3rd, I still loved having a task for students to complete online. This allowed kiddos to work at their own pace, and worked nicely when students were pulled out of the room for services.
- Plant Linkitivity ($7) This is another digital resource that is so well thought out. Students can explore a Google Slide Show of information all about plants. Videos, graphics, diagrams and short passages show a wealth of information.
Fantastic 3rd Grade Social Studies Products
- Early Explore Unit ($20) This unit is jam-packed with everything you need to teach! Activities, stations, review game and unit test make planning a breeze. Pick and choose what you want to use.
- Branches of Government Linkitivity ($8) This digital resource is a lot like the science ones above. Students work at their own pace to discover the 3 branches of government. I used this as a wrap up to the unit, instead of a test.
